Use of antibiotics

Post by bitheerani319 »

In dealing with Covid-19, we often hear that part of the treatment regimen includes various, strong antibiotics. It is important to emphasize that antibiotics should only be used on the recommendation of a doctor.

In fact, the role of the antibiotic is to fight bacterial infections that have occurred as a result of any virus or disease, but the antibiotic itself does not kill the virus .

On the occasion of European Antibiotic Awareness Day, we would like to rcs data cambodia some important information related to antibiotics.

WHAT IS AN ANTIBIOTIC ACTUALLY?
An antibiotic is a substance that prevents the growth and replication of bacteria, or simply kills them. Antibiotics exclusively target bacteria and bacterial infections on or in the body.

Of course, bacteria aren't the only microbes that can be harmful to us. Fungi and viruses can also be dangerous to humans, but they aren't treated with antibiotics, but with antifungal and antiviral drugs, respectively.

Most antibiotics used today are produced in laboratories, but they are often based on compounds that scientists have found in nature over the years.

HOW DO ANTIBIOTICS WORK?
As we have explained so far, antibiotics have one sole purpose - to treat bacterial infections. Some antibiotics are specific, meaning they are only effective against a specific type of bacteria. While others are known as "broad-spectrum antibiotics", meaning they attack a wide range of bacteria, even those that are so-called "good bacteria" - beneficial to the human body. Therefore, it is often recommended that probiotics be used with every use of antibiotics, which complement the normal gastrointestinal flora.

There are two ways that antibiotics target bacteria - by stopping the bacteria from reproducing and by killing the bacteria (i.e. by stopping the mechanism responsible for making their cell walls).

WHY ARE ANTIBIOTICS IMPORTANT?
The discovery of antibiotics represented a " revolution " in the treatment of infectious diseases. Between 1945 and 1972, average life expectancy increased by 8 years, thanks to the use of antibiotics for diseases that previously caused death in patients.

Antibiotics are now widely available and used in medicine and allow many complex, surgical procedures to be performed routinely around the world, by being used after (and sometimes before) certain operations.

If, hypothetically, the world ran out of effective antibiotics, modern medicine would go back decades and relatively minor and simple surgical procedures and minor illnesses would be life-threatening for patients.
