Anne, who was scammed out of 830,000 euros by a man pretending to be Brad Pitt , spoke on the show "C l'hebdo" on Saturday, January 25. The victim spoke in particular about the cyberbullying she suffered after her testimony was broadcast on TF1. " I'm in warrior mode today ," she said, before talking about her harassers. "I want to say to these people: 'You shouldn't make fun' because you don't know each other's real story."
"It hurts. We each have our own story, our own burden. (...) Stop making fun of the victims!" Anne insists, with a thought "for these victims who unfortunately were at a point in their lives in failure. Because there was a time when they were alone, isolated, perhaps destitute of everything". "You have no right to judge these people" , she says to those who have made fun of her situation on social networks.

Anne is not the only victim of this type of romance scam in which individuals extort money from their victims by pretending to be stars. These scams, carried out by "grazers", who operate on social networks, are common. The New York Times(New window)had revealed in September that two Spanish women had also been victims of a fake Brad Pitt. In 2024, Spanish authorities announced the arrest of five people "charged with fraud and money laundering after posing as Brad Pitt online and defrauding two women of more than $350,000."
