What is Owncloud?

Owncloud is a multi-platform file storage and synchronization service that can be installed on our server.
With it, any user with an account can upload information and it will be synchronized with other users on any of their devices.
The main difference between Owncloud and other cloud storage services is that being installed on our own hosting gives us great freedom to design our own cloud storage system and allows us to have control over many other aspects related to privacy.
