Yahoo! is about to launch a new advertising platform that integrates video, images and custom search results boxes with paid results from advertisers. The goal is to improve click-through rates for its advertisers. The service called “Rich Ads in Search” is another attempt to catch up with Google in the search engine marketing market.
An initial trial of the platform was launched in bc data philippines late 2008, with participation from major advertisers such as Pepsi and Pedrigree. Following these trials, Yahoo! claims that its click-through rate for participating advertisers increased by 25%.
The service also allows users to search for products or store locations by simply entering their postal code.
The search engine will offer this new platform to its advertisers on a monthly payment basis, a development that could be modified in the future. Initially, Yahoo! selected the participating advertisers.
