The construction industry uses Twitter to engage with customers, partners and end users. To see how the conversation is going, the Twitter statistics of the 10 largest construction companies were compared. What is the role of Twitter in this industry and what do we do with it? The construction industry is on the right track, but still has a lot of work to do.
The construction industry is conservative, hesitant and not very transparent. There you have it, the image that most people have of the construction industry. Nevertheless, we as the construction industry try to start a conversation with customers, partners and end users with the help of Twitter, among other things. Although still in its early stages, there is increasing interest in how Twitter can be used (better) in communication with the outside world. The question is: is it really a conversation or is the construction industry mainly oman phone number list out to send traditionally?
Of the 10 largest construction companies in the Netherlands, 9 have a corporate business account on Twitter. All with their own (or no) strategy and policy. Often, a corporate account with sub-accounts for different business units is used. This allows a distinction to be made between the different specialisations of the builders. At most builders, some of the staff also have their own (private) account and they also engage in conversation with the outside world separately. At Strukton, BAM and Heijmans, among others, guidelines have been drawn up for these employees for the use of social media.
