Google Analytics 4 is a new evolution of Analytics Universal that does not focus on measuring what happens on a website. This new update will offer relevant metrics for other types of digital properties, such as mobile applications.

GA4 gives us a more complete and comprehensive way of knowing what is happening on our site and allows us a new way of approaching issues such as conversion attribution.

It's a smart tool that uses machine learning to extract statistics from customer journeys across different platforms and devices.
GA4 is built on privacy and designed to think ahead.

Main functions of GA4
In Universal Analytics, the metrics were sessions and page views. However, now the unit of measurement in GA4 is events (GA4 refers to all actions, including a page view) which will allow us to measure interactions that do not occur through web pages much more effectively.
Since events will be the measurement center, GA4 offers many more facilities to edit and correct events without the need to adjust the implementation code.
GA4 uses machine learning to offer more predictive metrics. This new version will be able to tell us the probability that a user will convert or abandon the website, as well as allowing us to analyze the behavior of anonymized users.
New and improved ways to measure interactions and engagement. In Universal Analytics we only had the bounce rate, however now we can expand the information on metrics such as clicks or file downloads.
Simpler and more organized reports have been created to make them more intuitive.
Multi-domain measurement has been added, which allows the different domains of a brand to be unified into a single flow. This will give us a much more complete picture of the user journey.
We will have better tracking of the user journey and thus be able to attribute conversions more accurately.
On July 1, 2023, Google Analytics 4 will replace Universal Analytics, which means that Universal Analytics will no longer process data from that date.
