David and Inma had started their own business in Spain but, as they themselves say, “the crisis changed everything.” So they decided to change too: they packed their bags and went to Bordeaux to set up the rcs data turkey atelier Villar+Vera. Patience and self-confidence were their great allies at the beginning but, since they won their first public competition, they have not stopped growing. We spoke to them to find out more about this adventure.
What is a creative?
Inma: A dreamer, a nonconformist, a communicator.
David: I agree with what Inma says, above all she is a constructive person, someone who contributes something (useful or not) to the world.
Have you ever done this before? Were you afraid to embark on this adventure?
Inma: Yes, I was an entrepreneur in Spain before I was in France. I was not afraid. Every time I embarked on a new adventure, I did so with great enthusiasm and energy.
David: Yes, in Spain too, but the crisis changed everything, it was good to get out of the comfort zone and think about other possibilities.
Would you have dared to do it in Spain?
Inma: Yes, of course. I have always believed that one has to do what one's instinct tells one.
David: Yes, I did for a few years.
What steps did you take to start your business in Paris?
Inma: First we did a study of the number of graphic designers in Paris (freelance, with their small studio and with their big studio). We contacted some of them for advice and we were on the ball, because we found some really nice people. Then we studied who our main clients and collaborators were and we applied to them. Just like that, with all the nerve! We applied to all the public competitions we could and signed up for some French courses (to get rid of the language handicap). It took us a year to win our first competition and since then we haven't stopped!
“The hardest thing was to be patient and know that, with perseverance, we would position ourselves where we wanted to be
