Artificial intelligence and blockchain in offices and authorities or intelligent mobility with all means of transport thanks to data analysis and smartphone apps - digital technologies can make our lives in cities and villages more convenient and environmentally friendly and make administration more efficient and closer to the citizens. Many startups are working to make this a reality.

And the most innovative solutions will be honored with the Smart Country Startup Award. The award is given in two categories: Smart City and E-Government.

A total of six finalists have the chance to pitch in front of a top-class jury and a large expert audience at the Smart Country Convention (22 to 24 October 2019) in Berlin for a total of 10,000 euros in prize money and a free Get Started membership.

All finalists will also have the opportunity to get to know a broad network of established companies , investors and contacts from the public sector, as well as a free exhibition stand at the Smart Country Convention.

"If we want to advance the digitization of the public sector in Germany, then asia gambling data we need to make much greater use of the innovative ideas of startups than before. The Smart Country Startup Award offers the opportunity to bring together startups and representatives of federal, state, city and municipal administrations and authorities," says Jenny Boldt, Head of Startups at the digital association Bitkom.

The Smart Country Startup Award is organized by Get Started, Bitkom's startup initiative, and supported by various partners such as KPMG and Messe Berlin. Startups can apply until September 15th.

Smart Country Convention: Three-day event on digitalization in the public sector
The Smart Country Convention is all about the digitization of administrations and public services. It is organized by the digital association Bitkom in cooperation with Messe Berlin.

The three-day event brings together all relevant representatives from administration, politics, digital economy, associations and science. The Smart Country Convention is a combination of congress, workshops, training events and exhibition.

This includes digital administration as well as infrastructure in the areas of energy, mobility and public safety . In addition, the focus is on the digitalization of public services relating to supply and disposal, education, health and housing.
