The digitization of the German healthcare system is still a hot topic. The Online Access Act (OZG), passed in 2017, was intended to further support digitization and make numerous federal and state administrative services in the healthcare sector electronically accessible by the end of 2022.
The objective was:
User-friendliness for citizens and employees – processes should be simplified and adapted to the needs of the target groups
Time savings – administration should become faster and more reliable through digitalization
Quality and security – the administration of the federal, state and local governments should be digitized together
Efficiency – Standardization and common basic components should create a sustainable and efficient IT structure
So what can we expect for 2023?
The OZG was implemented in a user-centered manner, meaning that algeria consumer email list only administrative services that have a direct impact on citizens and businesses were digitized. The basis for this implementation is the OZG implementation catalog. It includes 575 services that are divided into 14 subject areas and must be offered online. 115 of the 575 services were prioritized during implementation.
The health topic area was developed under the leadership of the state of Lower Saxony with the support of the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) and includes around 60 administrative services. These administrative services cover areas such as health care, illness, care, disability and death. Topics that involve considerable complexity, as they involve dealing with sensitive patient data on the one hand, but also with emotional and ethical challenges on the other.
A lot has happened since 2017, but by no means what was intended. So which administrative services in the healthcare system will be available digitally from 2023? A question that is not easy to answer. The last report on the current state of development that could be found online was from 2020, since then the OZG had long disappeared from the news. But now, on December 14, 2022, and thus at the end of the OZG, a report from the BMI was published with the topic: Looking back on five years of the OZG.
What actually happened to the OZG?
