3. Secure Your Account with Two-Step Verification

Post by shapanwwudrw »

Voice Messages: Similar to calls, you can control who can send you voice messages in Settings > Privacy and Security > Voice Messages.
2. Embrace End-to-End Encryption with Secret Chats:

For your most sensitive conversations, always use Secret Chats. These chats feature end-to-end encryption, meaning messages are only visible to you and the recipient, not even Telegram's servers.
To start a Secret Chat, go to the recipient's profile, tap the three dots (or their name at the top), and select "Start Secret Chat."
Secret Chats are device-specific and are not synced across your devices.
Features of Secret Chats:
Self-Destruct Timer: Set a timer for messages to disappear automatically after being read.
No Forwarding: Messages cannot be forwarded from Secret Chats.
Screenshot Notifications (on Android): You'll be notified if the other participant takes a screenshot (this may vary by platform).

Enable Two-Step Verification (2FA) by going to Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification.
Set a strong password in addition to the SMS code you receive when logging in on a new device.
Provide a recovery email address in case you forget your password. This significantly enhances your account security.
4. Set a Strong Passcode Lock for the App:

Use Telegram's Passcode denmark telegram phone number list feature (Settings > Privacy and Security > Passcode Lock (or Local Passcode)) to add an extra layer of security to the app itself on your device. You'll need to enter a PIN or use biometric authentication to open Telegram. You can also set an auto-lock timer.
5. Manage Active Sessions:

Regularly check your Active Sessions (Settings > Privacy and Security > Active Sessions) to see where your Telegram account is logged in.
Terminate any sessions that you don't recognize or are no longer using. This is crucial if you've logged into Telegram on a public computer or suspect unauthorized access.
6. Be Cautious with Links and Attachments:

Be wary of clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown or suspicious sources, even within Telegram. These could be phishing attempts or malware.
7. Limit Information Sharing in Public Groups and Channels:

Be mindful of the personal information you share in public Telegram groups and channels, as these are visible to a large number of people. Avoid sharing sensitive details like your address, phone number (if you've set it to public), or financial information.
8. Review Third-Party Bots and Websites:

If you've authorized any third-party bots or websites to access your Telegram account (Settings > Privacy and Security > Bots & Websites > Logged In with Telegram), review the list and revoke access if you no longer need them or don't recognize them.
9. Control Media Auto-Download:

Adjust your media auto-download settings (Settings > Data and Storage > Automatic Media Download) to prevent Telegram from automatically downloading photos, videos, and files from all chats. You can customize this for mobile data, Wi-Fi, and roaming to conserve data and potentially limit exposure to unwanted content. You can also disable "Save to Gallery" for specific chat types to prevent media from being automatically saved to your phone's gallery.
10. Delete Synced Contacts (If Necessary):

If you're concerned about Telegram having access to your contacts, you can delete synced contacts by going to Settings > Privacy and Security > Data Settings > Delete Synced Contacts. You can also disable contact syncing in the same section.
