How did it come about?

Post by bitheerani90 »

This way of finding solutions has been around since 1919. To be precise, the famous Bauhaus design school already used many design thinking mechanisms. Almost 70 years later, IDEO, a Silicon Valley company, started using the approach to solve its problems.

However, design thinking only really had a denmark mobile database when Tim Brown, who worked in partnership with David Kelley at the innovation consultancy IDEO, released a book in 2009 called Design Thinking: A Powerful Methodology for Destroying Old Ideas .

Why are there so many market supporters of design thinking?
The innovative way that design thinking has brought to thinking about how it is possible to solve problems using creativity is one of the main reasons for its success, but more than that, it is the focus on the human.

Management processes can, in many ways, be focused only on the rational part, forgetting that, in order to find great solutions, they need free expression. It is necessary to let ideas flow and, from there, choose the best one. Often, it is when writing down everything that comes to mind about a question (brainstorming) that a great opportunity appears.

This way of thinking has therefore attracted different companies in the market . A good example is Apple. Steve Jobs defended this way of working throughout his career; he was even friends with David Kelley.

When developing his products, he believed it was essential to think about the user. This is clear when we look at Apple products, from their cell phones to computers. Their functionality is designed to be intuitive and make the consumer's life easier.

How can this concept be applied?
Obviously, design thinking must be adapted according to the need and type of objective. The good thing is that this way of approaching a problem is flexible. For example, let's say the marketing department needs to redo a campaign that didn't bring the expected results. However, management can't identify the problem. How can design thinking help?

Firstly, one of the parts of design involves researching both what the client wants and finding references for the project. Therefore, the marketing department could conduct research and understand what consumers think about their campaign. It is also worth using metrics and analyzing other projects that have worked.

After this process, the second step would be to start thinking about ideas for a new campaign, using the information collected. However, it is essential not to stifle the team's creative process.
