The Impact of an Inefficient Checkout
Michelle began her presentation with a fact that made many in the audience reflect: 7 out of 10 consumers abandon their carts during the purchase process, resulting in significant losses. From there, she delved into the main reasons that lead to abandonment: confusing design, long and complex forms, and the lack of optimization for mobile devices.
“ A common misunderstanding is mixing up the sales page with the checkout. They are complementary steps, but with completely different functions, ” explained Michelle. She also highlighted the importance of measuring the efficiency of a checkout by the click-to-pay rate: “ If the buyer completed the checkout and clicked pay, it fulfilled its function. ”
