When talking about Trinity College, most of us think of Trinity College Dublin , the oldest university in Ireland. Famous for having educated greats of English literature such as Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett , it also boasts one of the most famous libraries in the world, which if you haven't visited, I recommend you don't miss.
You might even feel at home here, as it has been a recurring setting in many films, the most characteristic being perhaps Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
You must be thinking that it is a bit out of the way, right? Or maybe it is not the right time to travel… no excuses, you can take a “virtual” trip thanks to new technologies by clicking here .
After this introduction that has nothing to do with the topic at hand, other than to clarify that they are not the same institution, today we are going to talk about the language certification of Trinity College London .
This international English language examination body, which has been offering these services since 1938, examines an average of 500,000 students a year, and is present in more than 60 countries. Despite its age, it has acquired a relatively recent reputation in Spain, as many centres have opted for its examination model, which is more focused on the oral section, perhaps the main function of language and the skill that we all want to master when we study a new language.
Today, it is already a reference in the sector worldwide for its English language accreditation program ( GESE & ISE ), endorsed by thousands of examination centers on four continents.
Its certificates are recognised nationally and internationally by universities and public and private organisations, and are calibrated on the basis of the Common European Framework ( CEFR ). Among them, the following stand out:
GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English). The test consists of a listening and speaking session with the examiner.
ISE (Integrated skills in English). Students are tested on the four language skills: comprehension and expression, both written and oral.
“The GESE is developed through 12 levels of oral evaluation, while the ISE examines the 4 language skills in 5 sections. ”
Both are valuable qualifications, it would not be fair to say that one is more important telemarketing leads mexico telephone number data than the other. The main difference lies in which part of the language you want to focus on and, above all, be examined on. Many institutions prefer Trinity because they ensure that the candidate masters oral skills, which are the main stumbling block for most Spaniards when it comes to expressing themselves in English, while others opt for Cambridge because it requires a good level in all four language skills.
Both certificates are included in the Common European Framework of Reference ( CEFR ) and both have their levels approved around this framework.
Again, both are tied in terms of validity, neither of them expires.
From a pragmatic point of view, it could be argued that Trinity ( GESE , not ISE ) may be a little easier, as you don't have to prepare as many parts, although if the speaking part is clearly your weak point, perhaps a 4-skills exam ( Cambridge or ISE ) would improve your chances of passing.
Both certificates are recognized and meritorious, the choice of one or the other will depend on what we are looking for.
In short, we are looking at two certificates that have their levels approved by the CEFR , are recognized worldwide by universities and organizations and do not expire, so both options are excellent to certify your level of English. You can consult the structure of each of them in the final infographic.
If you are interested in any of them, Grupo Femxa offers free courses with both certifications. Do not hesitate to check our offer if any of them suits your needs.
Have you tried any of them? Did you find them difficult? We would love to hear your opinion. I am sure that together we can clarify and decide which one suits us best, although as we said, both are highly recommended.
