The association "Un bout du Monde" does not have the ambition to acquire Le Monde in its entirety but to re-establish solidarity between citizens and their media. Despite strong media coverage of the project, contributions from the first fundraising campaign only amount to 20% of the target of €500,000. The prospect of acquiring the unclaimed shares is also hampered by opposition from the Société des Rédacteurs du Monde .
