Social media strategy is a hot topic! Every modern company should have one. As if social media is a strategy . Now I worked for one of the largest insurance companies in the Netherlands for years, but I never came across an email strategy, a telephone strategy or a stand-alone internet strategy. Just like email and the telephone, a social network is a means and not an end in itself. So why all the fuss about a social media strategy? Why does a company need to have a social media strategy?
The answer is unfortunately all too simple; to get budget. After all, there are few senior el salvador phone number list managers with sufficient hands-on experience with social media and they cannot yet rely on their 'business instinct' at this point. And it is precisely that instinct that has made the difference in the career of most senior managers.
If the senior manager lacks that instinct, he will seek certainty in the form of hard figures. Questions like: "What is the added value?" and "What is the ROI?" will fly across the table. The question to the marketing department will probably be: "First show us a plan (the social media strategy) that clearly shows that we should invest our scarce budget in this".
