Following the implementation of the State Design System (DSFR) in 2021, the main French administration sites, in “.gouv.fr”, are now required or encouraged (according to the directives) to offer websites that comply with this new standard of graphic charter, ergonomics and accessibility.
The State Design System was set up by the Government Information Service ( SIG ). To put it simply, a design system is a library of graphic components, with style guides, all accompanied by rules of use and composition. This system now represents the State's brand. Its ambition is simple: to harmonize the design and user experience of all French government websites and, ultimately, "improve the digital State/Citizen relationship by becoming a benchmark for quality and trust."
