It needs equal opportunities
The Federal Council's reports on public service clearly show that there is a need for action: the SRG is competing heavily with private media providers in the entertainment and sports sectors with license fee-financed content. which is formed by the SRG, Swisscom and Ringier, is also threatening to divide up the Swiss advertising market differently, giving the SRG even more market power. This is a classic distortion of competition, and the playing field is not level for everyone.
That bothers me as an entrepreneur. I therefore europe rcs data welcome the fact that the Federal Council is demanding more quality and differentiation from the SRG in the public service report . Since the referendum on the RTVG and against the background of the No-Billag initiative, stubbornly clinging to the status quo would be incomprehensible and damaging. What is needed is not a media revolution, but adaptations to the digital age. The SRG should primarily do what no private provider can do, but what is necessary from a social perspective.
The current legal regulations from the time when radio and television were state-run and distribution was very expensive are no longer valid. The distribution of images and sound is – thanks to the Internet – much cheaper than it used to be. Time-shifted consumption is widespread, and round-the-clock programs will no longer be necessary in the future.
