Learn the basics of fonts (typefaces)
The art of typography is vast and varied. But even if you don't know it in depth, you should be familiar with the main classifications of typefaces.
Serif - These typefaces have small ornaments at the end of their lines. These are called serifs . Serifs were originally implemented in printing to improve readability, and for that reason these typefaces have a classic appearance. They are associated with seriousness , tradition, and elegance . Some examples are Times New Roman, Garamond, and Georgia.
Sans-serif . These typefaces are characterized by the absence of serifs. They have a clean, modern appearance . They have excellent readability on screens, making them a popular choice in web design. Some examples are Helvetica, Arial, and Open Sans.
Handwritten . Handwritten fonts mimic handwriting. They are typically used only for headings , as body text with this font would be difficult for users to read. Some examples include Lobster and Lucida Handwriting.
Display fonts. These fonts are uniquely designed with a specific purpose in mind. They tend to be more complex and eye-catching, and for that reason are reserved for titles and special situations.
Check that the font fits with your company's image
The font you choose for your website should be a unity with the rest of the visual elements that surround it. A lack of cohesion will weaken your company's image.

Order the chosen fonts according to their importance
Each of the fonts in your web design should be used consistently to indicate a certain level of hierarchy. For clarity, you can divide your fonts into three roles:
The main font , which will be reserved for titles and subtitles. This font will be the most visible on your website. Although it is not the most common, users will associate your brand with this font. For this reason, you can use a more striking and distinctive font than the others.
The secondary font will be used for body text (articles, descriptions, paragraphs, etc.). The most important thing is that this font is legible for users. Unlike the main font, you will want to stay away from overly flashy fonts, as ornate fonts are often harder to read.
The featured font will be reserved for calls to action and other specific purposes. It is important to make it distinct from the others to draw attention to these elements. If you have one, you can use the same font as your logo.
