Yoast , who you may know from the SEO community or from the various WordPress plugins he has developed, has now created an SEO plugin for WordPress .
I recently had the chance to try it out. You can follow along with my video screencast below, as well as further thoughts later in the post.
A true all-in-one solution?
Currently at Theme Lab, I use several different SEO plugins,How to Make a Bio Dropdown Box with CSS
including All-In-One SEO Pack, XML Sitemaps, RSS Footers (also from Yoast). I have also used plugins like Yoast Breadcrumbs on other sites.
The Yoast WordPress SEO plugin combines all russian virtual mobile number of these features into a single plugin, making it a much more comprehensive solution than other SEO plugins currently available on the market.
It even has features like cleaning up <head>part of a document (which I went over in the video). I went over how to remove this code manually in a previous tutorial: Remove unnecessary code from wp_head
Best of all, you can import and export all your settings which can be transferred to other sites easily. With plugins like SEO Data Transporter by StudioPress, you can import SEO settings from almost any popular SEO plugin or theme to make them compatible with Yoast WordPress SEO.
Conclusion
I would recommend WordPress SEO by Yoast as a must-have plugin . In more recent site developments, I have tried to move away from using as many plugins that include hacking plugins like All-In-One SEO Pack in favor of storing custom meta tags and titles hard-coded into custom fields.
With all the useful features of the WordPress SEO plugin that cover many aspects of SEO, you really can't afford not to use it. I plan to switch to the WordPress SEO plugin on Theme Lab in the future.
What do you think about the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin? If you are currently using another SEO plugin or theme framework, would you consider switching?
