Luckily for English learners, there are thousands of films to practice the language. So many that sometimes we have a hard time choosing just one, right? In this blog we have already recommended some fantastic films to learn English , but if in addition to English you want to learn something more about British culture and history, don't lose sight of this list of films, perhaps not as well-known, but with a lot of juice.
Sense and Sensibility (Ang Lee, 1995)
One of the best Jane Austen film adaptations. Thanks to brilliant British uk phone number list and a script that retains Austen's acidic humour, this film is one of the best examples of Englishness in cinema. In 19th century England, two sisters, one rational, the other passionate, will have to mature their concept of love and face a classist, closed and gossipy society.
Gosford Park (Robert Altman, 2001)
Before the arrival of the famous Downtown Abbey series, someone had already taken it upon themselves to capture the spirit of English high society in the 1930s. In true Agatha Christie style, a murder occurs while a group of rich people are hunting in a country house. But this is only the main theme, because the film tries to reflect the workings of the British class system at the time.
