Client, customer, consumer : these three words can be confused and tend to be used as synonyms, especially the first two. In some cases they can be interchanged, but they do not mean exactly the same thing:
Client : Someone who uses the services of a professional or company. It implies a long-term relationship.
Customer : someone who buys goods or services from a company. It involves a one-time purchase
Consumer : Someone who buys goods and services for personal use or someone who eats or uses something. This is the end user of the product.
