By looking at the browser window itself, you will be able to understand if the connection to the website has been established with SSL protocol: if the connection is secure, a small green padlock icon will appear on the left of the URL and it will be present in the URL https instead of the simple http . Furthermore, by clicking on the padlock icon, you will expand a window in which there is more information and if the identity of the site has been verified (i.e. if it has the SSL certificate).

On the other hand, if a site does not have a certificate installed and the germany business email list connection does not use the SSL protocol, you will see a small page-shaped symbol and the URL with http .

Furthermore, incredibly, it is not uncommon for websites to use “homemade” certificates. Luckily, when we connect to such a site, the browser shows us a warning that invites us to pay attention to what we are doing. At this point, if the website is really a fake and dangerous site, the prudent user has the possibility of avoiding it by simply stopping or going back.

HTTPS and SSL certificates, let's clarify. SSL is the acronym for the terms Security Socket Layer. A Security Socket Layer is a protocol that serves to protect communications between browsers and servers, for example by encrypting information provided by users. It is essential for protecting sensitive visitor data against fraud and identity theft. An SSL certificate issued by a recognized body is essential to activate the SSL protocol without receiving warnings from clients (e.g. browsers) that use it.
With little expense and little time, you can dramatically increase the perceived and actual security of your website.
