Have you ever felt impostor syndrome?
Well, that is a real issue that many of us have experienced when starting to work on our personal brand or when offering a service.
Sometimes we feel ashamed of charging for what we offer, and that is normal, especially if we come from the world of employment, where we are paid a salary, and when we start offering our work by our nam vietnam email address e, we do not know how much we should charge.
What I used to do at the beginning was to calculate my salary, divide it into working days and divide it by 8 working hours. That way, I calculated how much my hour is worth. It was the most logical thing to do. But I was wrong! That's not how it is.
There are many more things you need to take into account, but no one tells you about them, and you don't think about those things when you're out on your own. In fact, that's the reason why many speakers and other mentors charge sooooo little.
Behind a piece of advice that may take you just 5 minutes, there is a lot of preparation and study. A lot of knowledge. To give a one-hour talk, you can spend about 3 more hours preparing the presentation, not counting the time spent researching or the time spent on experience that has led you to know everything you know.
That's what happened to one of my mentees (as I tell the people who take my advice), who was offered a trip to her client's city. They paid for her tickets, hotels and the time to be there, just for advice that she could perfectly give them over the phone. But that's what the client wanted. Of course, my mentee was surprised when it was proposed to her.
Did you know that your knowledge is worth a lot? If you give someone an opinion or advice that saves them money, that person will be willing to pay you for it. For example, if you are saving someone $20,000, why not charge $15,000 for your advice?
It is important that you understand that your knowledge is worth money, and that there is a lot of effort behind it to offer the service. So, don't devalue yourself!
