We solved this by allocating marketing expenses based on number of leads and sales expenses based on number of employees, but it wasn’t perfect. The key for us was that 1 all costs needed to be considered — there is no free lunch, and 2 it needed to be consistent over time. Progress toward improving a metric was more important than the actual value.

The metrics that are important to each sales funnel will vary from company to company, depending on the steps involved in the funnel. However, no matter what your sales process is, there is a universal cameroon mobile database way to measure each step and the funnel as a whole. This involves measuring two things at each step: the number of leads that come to the top of that step, and the conversion rate for the next step in the funnel see below.

In the image above reflected in the dashboard, we show a very simple three-stage sales process where visitors come to the website and a portion of them sign up for trials. Some trials then convert to purchases. As you can see in the dashboard, we will want to track the number of visitors, trials, and completed deals. Our goal should be to increase these numbers over time. We also want to track conversion rates, with the goal of increasing them over time.
