Data has always played a central and important role for many companies . Article, branch, customer or supplier data form the basis for efficient and sustainable management, satisfied customers and reliable analyses. In retail, for example, it is often about the amount of data, as retailers have to process a large amount of information on an ongoing basis and also have to be able to react very quickly to changes in day-to-day business . "The challenges usually lie in linking the data available in different areas and working with it company-wide. This is the only way companies can act flexibly, agilely and openly in all processes and derive innovations. There are various analytics tools for this," says Ruth-Maria Katemann, Head of the Competence Center Analytics at retailsolutions AG. She reports on four tools and explains their advantages and disadvantages.

Embedded Analytics
Embedded analytics are analysis functions that uk gambling data use data directly from classic business applications such as ERP or CRM systems. As the name suggests, the analyses are carried out in real time directly in the source system of the business application. The tools therefore provide easy support in evaluating data from operationally used systems. "For example, users can create orders and at the same time check whether the respective deliveries have been completed without problems recently. It is essentially work in context. The focus is on operational decision support," says Katemann, adding: "The data is output in the form of diagrams and graphs or in lists. However, the analyses and reports are limited to the information in this system. Analyses with data that has grown over the years from a wide variety of cross-system sources are therefore not possible." Evaluations are therefore often based on restrictive queries and offer fewer options for creating individual analysis criteria. This usually requires technical expertise. For smaller companies, however, embedded analytics is often sufficient.
