Anyone who does eCommerce SEO knows that issues related to duplicate content and low-quality content can have serious consequences regarding a site's search engine rankings and organic traffic.

As Google and other search engines become more sophisticated, they tend to increasingly penalize sites that have a lot of duplicate content internally and/or copied from other sites.

An e-commerce site can generate duplicate content internally in several ways , both for technical and editorial reasons.

In this specific case, most of the duplicate content was due to incorrect data entry management where different products had been entered multiple times and in different categories, generating different URLs for the same product why vnpay database is important for marketing entered in multiple categories. As you might imagine, this situation leads to significant duplicate content issues for product pages , which are typically the highest converting pages on an ecommerce site.

To solve this problem, together with my technical department, we rewrote the URLs in order to remove the category of belonging from the URLs of the product sheets, as in the following example:

This technical trick allowed me to quickly solve the problem of the same products being reachable from different URLs . At this point the main problem related to duplicate content was solved.
