Evolution of the Lancia brand logo

Post by mostakimvip06 »

Why do brands change their logos?
Some logos are modified from time to time and abruptly. We analyze the case of the car brand Lancia.
A logo is the face of a brand, so if your brand changes its personality, it should be reflected in your identity. Every day we see how the logos of well-known brands are modified over time, and that does not mean that they are correcting an error, but that the brand is capable of adapting to new times and updating itself . But why are changes made to logos? There may be several reasons, such as the company no longer fitting well into the market, the design no longer faithfully representing the brand or simply a new direction is being sought. A clear example of a logo that has been modified over time is that of Lancia .

The Italian car brand was founded in 1906 and with it the first logo model, which consisted of the brand name in golden tones and with a lowercase and italic typeface.

It was not until 1911 that Lancia redesigned its logo, incorporating a circle bolivia phone numbers shaped like a steering wheel and a pennant with the brand name, now with a completely different font than the first. A spear-shaped pole was added to the pennant, also referring to the brand name, which in Italian means lance. With this combination of image and text, the aim was to create a greater recall of the brand .

In 1929, the logo underwent a change that is still present today, and that is that the shape went from being circular to being framed by a curved triangle. All the elements that formed the logo were still there, but they became part of the interior of the triangle.

The next modification came in 1957, when the logo acquired a modern and fresh touch, replacing some colours such as red and beige with silver, the quintessential colour of automotive technology.

In the 1970s, the brand was acquired by the Fiat Group and made another change to its logo, making it look more like the previous logo. It seems that the silver colour was not very convincing and was replaced again by the old white and blue steering wheel, with these two remaining as the representative colours of the brand.
