Features of Kanban

Post by Maksudasm »

The foundation of Kanban is a continuous workflow structure that gives the team the freedom to act and adjust as priorities change.

An important tool of this method is considered to be the Kanban board. It usually has a table of three columns, each of which reflects a specific stage of work. Most often, these are “Planned”, “In progress” and “Done”. Each card in the column represents one work task, which is gradually migrating towards completion. If the project is small and not very complex, then a wall and stickers attached to it can be used as a Kanban board. Complex and large tasks require the use of digital tools, as they have broader functionality.

A team's work according loan database to the Kanban methodology means its agreement with the following key principles:

Visualization of the workflow . This allows for transparency of the activities of each team member. This is exactly why boards with clear delineation of stages are used. A new project is divided into separate tasks, and a completed one is moved to the last column "Done".

Limiting work in progress (WIP). When using the Kanban method, it is customary to avoid multitasking. The number of issues in progress at the same time should be limited by setting a WIP limit on the amount of issues that can be in one column at a time. This approach does not overload the group or create a "slowdown" that can lead to errors in the activity.

Flow management. Each team member is responsible for keeping the tasks on the Kanban board up-to-date. This way, the workflow continues uninterrupted.

Continuous improvement. It is very important to monitor the system's overall performance and how team members react to it. It is important to receive feedback and constantly seek to improve processes.

Principles of the Scrum method
Teams that work using Scrum adhere to the following principles:

Iterative development. Teams divide the entire project work into a certain number of parts, and in between, ask for relevant feedback from all parties. This allows the team to focus on a small number of things at a time. This allows for continuous improvement of processes and the creation of greater value.

Time limit . This principle has two goals - to carry out effective work planning and to be flexible with the ability to make changes quickly. Team members must meet daily, sprints and retrospectives must be planned, which in turn also have a time limit.

Self-organization . Each member of the group should have a strong sense of responsibility for their work. This way, control over their zone is better implemented, which affects the final result of everyone's activities.

Collaboration : There is mutual respect among team members, they easily share successes and failures, and they perceive Agile project management as a process of creating shared value.

Value-based prioritization - This ensures that teams
