Where Tumblr and WordPress will touch

Post by shaown »

The WordPress platform and the Tumblr platform are both in hungary phone number the same big Automattic family.

But building a site with WordPress is certainly not like starting a blog through Tumblr. The differences that distinguish the choices that are made with one platform and the other say a lot about what the purpose is for which one goes online.

The announcement that comes directly from the official Automattic website might seem like a desire to transform the two platforms into the same thing. But it is immediately made clear that no changes will be made to Tumblr to transform it into a second version of WordPress. “ It would be completely useless ” we read in the post and in fact it would be decidedly short-sighted to force those who have chosen the agile form of the blog through Tumblr to move to something that resembles a real site with WordPress. So what will be changed and integrated?

Automattic's acquisition of the Tumblr platform has greatly increased the total number of users who use the services offered by this Internet giant. Among Tumblr's biggest fans is WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg , and we want to start with one of his posts to try to understand the significance of the announcement on Automattic's official website.

Mullenweg tells how there is a story that is maybe true maybe not and that concerns Ernest Shackleton . The great explorer whose ship was recently found on the ocean floor after having disappeared a hundred years ago while trying to reach Antarctica. A person who therefore spent his life trying to go where no one wanted to go .

The story of this explorer is an excuse for Mullenweg to tell without going into detail how important and at the same time how complicated it will be to migrate Tumblr to WordPress. A migration for which, for example, Automattic is looking for engineers .

So what to do: get Tumblr’s backend running on WordPress , “ one of the biggest technical migrations in the history of the internet ,” according to Automattic’s announcement. Something that won’t be easy, but which ultimately aims to make “ both Tumblr and WordPress better .”
