Deutsche Umwelthilfe finds increasing serious consumer protection

Post by bhasan01854 »

ince December 2020, the German Environmental Aid (DUH) has increasingly identified violations of environmentally relevant consumer protection regulations in online retail and the increased online advertising of everything from household products to new cars. The environmental and consumer protection organization is currently receiving a particularly high number of complaints from consumers about false or incorrect information on the environmental and climate impacts of the advertised products. For this reason, the DUH will be increasing its monitoring of online retail during the lockdown. Consumers must be able to see the mandatory information on energy consumption and other environmentally relevant properties of a product "at a glance".

Jürgen Resch, Federal Managing Director of the DUH, india gambling data commented: "Obviously, the lockdown is leading to partially unrestrained advertising , especially for products that are particularly harmful to the climate, such as new cars with particularly high fuel consumption and thus CO2 emissions."

Agnes Sauter, Head of Ecological Market Monitoring: "Online trading is currently booming. Consumers cannot currently view products in brick-and-mortar stores and receive expert advice. It is therefore all the more crucial that their legally guaranteed information rights are not violated, especially in impersonal online trading. This is also crucial for climate protection. The better consumers know the environmental impact of products, the more likely they are to be able to base their purchasing decisions on environmental protection criteria. Only those who are transparently informed about the subsequent costs of a product can decide in favor of their wallet and climate protection. Products that seem cheap at first glance often cause high additional costs, a lot of waste and enormous greenhouse gas emissions over the long term of their use."
